Yes, I know, that was a needlessly long title.  But it serves dual purposes.  I will be using this journal as a test journal for a new Typography styled skin which the focus is the text, not the graphics.  I want to achieve a magazine/poster type of look.  This is going to be an exclusive skin.  The first of several which will only be available to one lucky Deviant as part of a pointraising effort to reinstate the Super status for CSS-Babes.  I have recently been appointed the status of Super Babe, and my very first act shall be to start a pointraiser!  DA is currently having a sale on Super group subscription, meaning this is the time to get as many points together as quickly as we can.  So, my fellow babes may be contributing exclusive skins at super low prices.  We haven't hashed out all the details yet or even informed all the Babes.
But it can't hurt to get the promo ball rolling and make you all  :iconeagerpee:  yourselves.  Thinking of you, pica-ae

eCSSercise Contest Winner
Dual purpose number two!  Big congratulations to the wonderful bradleysays for his participation in the grand opening contest for eCSSercise.  Your stamp illustrated the purpose of our group as well as entertained with cute emotes.  Great execution!  Please everyone go tell him how awesome his stampness is! :D

Feature MEME
Triple dual purpose (okay, I can't count?), would be a journal MEME I saw on neurotype's most recent journal, which featured me, sort of making me need to go ahead and do it.  It's a fun little feature one where you post up faves.  Good way to show community love and fill up my journal with something other than "Lorem Ipsom, this is a test"...

  1. The first thing I faved:
    American Psycho by Dickens-Art
(I have 89 pages of faves, this is the first from this account, I closed my old account, but many are faves from my first days on DA)
  2. Two I forgot about but still love.
Broken Dawn by arcipello I Can Still Remember by gilad
Both are favorite artists I had watched in my old acct.  One I just recently re-watched, the other hasn't posted since December.
  3. Three that baffle me.
Cyborg by girltrippedMonoflagellate 301a by wickedglassminotaure by bast-86
I am baffled at 20 faves and ZERO comments!
  4. The last four I favorited by different people.
Grab My Eyestalk by serah53000:thumb184937668:Ulquiorras by daguerreoty-pe
I cheated on this, as my last four were DD's or someone I recently featured, I want to give random exposure here
  5. Something that should totally have a DD.
    :thumb171684359:
Vincent Van Gogh fan art for Doctor Who.
  6. Six pieces by friends.
:thumb21393219:Bamboo by Nefarious-NessOminous Seraphim by silverbane:thumb110836240:.: Will be our secret by ShyadaA shiny design by neurotype
3 deviants I know and 3 I know in DevART
Blockquote Example
Idea behind this particular skin, it uses only one image, a simple semi-transparent white square.  The focus would be variable fonts, using  switches of font size, style and color to bring more visual depth to the character of the journal.  The magazine styled fonts juxtaposed with a hand written style Google WebFonts* that goes off the boundaries of the journal to give it the feeling of someone taking notes in the margins and side lines.

This skin was designed by GillianIvy, and I look like a kitty! fav.me/d2onmrc
Still under construction.  I will update with info/News feature about :iconcss-babes: :points:raiser when everything's been sorted.    To go along with the magazine type of feel, instead of just  your standard thumb styling, I've added standard img src styling, with a float, either left or right, to use alternately throughout the document.

Oooh man those thumbnails are my favorite thing ever. You should stick in a little bit of absolute position so they don't shift the blog...I remember doing that once. It was an adventure

Also, more spacing between the letters/slightly bigger text? I'm digging the two column thing, though. :D

Tried putting absolute, but couldn't get the effect I wanted to achieve. So it only shifts when there's a single thumb.

Wouldn't absolutes make them stick wherever I put them? I was trying to prevent much shiftiness :shifty: by use of margins and such. Which works fine for 2+ images. But single image makes the lines go wonky. Same with the links, I had a hover bg/borders. Well, I'll go play with some positions...

here's one I made a while back just to see if I could do the hovers without causing a shift: [link] ...maybe it's position:relative? :O I can't remember.

what you've done works pretty well, though!

I was alternating all the positioning. And in all possible DIVs. But didn't get the desired effect. It seems, if you have one thumb, it does the wobble thing. But if there's 2+ then it looks fine. Relative would do a weird layering thing. I think absolute was the right one, but it lost all the shape styling I did. since I did that in layers. Is there a way to round only one corner? I do it a silly way. I round all four, then I cut off three corners.. Lols. It works!

Straaaange. :O And yes there is an easy way to do a single corner ;p I know it's different between Opera, Webkit, and Mozilla so you'll need to Google it, but it totally exists (and may fix this issue!)

p.s. the font looks awesome now!

Kewlies. Did I change anything??? haha. I don't think I did changes to the main font. I'm on Google chrome at this second and my thumbs are all wonky in a column instead of rows! Do you know of any fixes/hacks for Google? I have no clue how to fix them without screwing it up in Mozilla. Why must it behave so differently???

I think the addition of the image in between helped ;p if you're going to do all text, you probably still need more space in between lines or something.

hmmm.... I thought they were supposed to do the same thing, so that's bizarre. do you have any code prefaced with -moz?

Well, I found a hack for Google Chrome, but DA parser won't validate it: [link] Good information to know, so thought I'd pass it on. Think I'll just remove all thumb styling. Since I really can't stand it to be so fubar. It seems to be a margin issue. I have the margins all funky for the hover to work nicely and reduce shifting. But in Google, it stacks them as though it were display:block instead of inline-block (I tested removing the line and still it did it), so the margins make them overlap. But if I remove the margins, then it'll have the shift. Sigh.

Nope, I never use the -moz thing, it seems pointless to write extra specifications. I try to code it, um, efficiently. Though I say that and think of what my code looks like right now.... You can't imagine how much editing you gotta do when you specify adding a border as a hover on your main anchor tag style.... For everywhere I didn't want that hover (which was everywhere else) I had to undo it. It may have been simpler if I had just specified it like .text a:hover instead.... But that would make sense or something. Can't have that. So nevermind me saying I try to do things the most efficient way, because that is clearly, a lie.

Right now for Google, all the thumb images are on the left. :shifty: But you're right there was a border-radius for each corner. I just always forgot how to write it out. My bf Googled it ;D So yes, there is a simpler way to do the thumbs. But ought I re-write them all out or just think, duly noted, and leave it at that.....
