#BeautifulBorders Contest Winner

Tue Oct 18, 2011, 2:24 AM
Hover for More [+]

Congratulations to Tiger-tyger for winning the line art portion of the BeautifulBorders contest.  My prize offer was to create a journal skin from the winning entry.

Tiger-tyger :icontiger-tyger:

There are two versions of this skin, in one install.  The default is the black outline border with green to white gradient as you see here.  The second is a white ghost image with white lines and semi-transparent white fill.  Switching is simple.  Find the word WHITE in the bottom of the CSS, and delete it.  To switch back, replace the word WHITE, or just reload the easy install.

This will be available soon.  Will need to test it first.  In the meantime, please enjoy some art.  Features will be explained in the deviation.

Great! It's really generous of you to offer journal skins as prizes.

Thanks! I don't do it often though, since I'm still working on a prize from last year :O I made the mistake of going all fan girl and saying I'd do four skins from someone's art because I'm an uber Doctor Who fan. I still have one left, the hardest of them, so better it is last, as my skills are better now than they were. I also plan to work on my own Doctor Who one. Woooo.

ooooo I like that skin, that's very nice. did ya purposefully make the scrollbar hoverable? :XD:

I added a "Hover for More", does it make more sense now? It is something they would have to put in manually. I didn't do it any fancy way like $Ikue's version. (See his recent blog.) Only because his is set up with li, ol and such, and I didn't want to add in all the extra code work, when just the words will suffice and the hover action is immediately in effect. So do you think this is simple enough?

That looks great, not too obtrusive and fits in nicely. I think it works well, and if they don't like it they don't have to put it in :)

Yup, I included it in the Header section, so they can delete if it is not wanted.

Yes ;D I hate the look of scrollbars, so only having them appear when it's needed was the better idea to me. I'm thinking of addign an extra line "Hover For More" so people know to hover. But generally, if I'm reading something, I mouseover it any ways. though my bf mentioned that people might not know to hover...
