artworks in 31 days. I've made myself an art journal, which I'll be doing mixed media. The journal was handmade from recycled materials, I used paper grocery bags and embroidery floss for the bindings.
Here's a peek at the first Inktober drawing.
- How long have you been on DeviantArt?
I started on dA in 2003 under the name gibberstoadzdoll, so this will be my 12th year on deviantART. I opened this account in 2006 for a few reasons. I needed a new name, and wanted to distance myself from my ex-fiance whom was connected to that account. This was before we could change names,
What does your username mean?
Gillian Ivy is my real first and middle name. Fortunately, they are unique. There seems to be only one other on the entire internet than me. My last name is mundane, and very common. I wanted to be more professional, and using my name sounds better to me.
Describe yourself in three words.
Obnoxious, Fantabulastic, Artistic
Are you left or right handed?
I am right handed, and completely useless with my left hand. It is just stupid and serves to do nothing but get in my way.
What was your first deviation? (on this account)
What is your favourite type of art to create?
I love traditional art. I use mixed mediums, one of my favorites is metallic gel pens. But I also love painting in acrylics and watercolors. I like to create detailed art, with lots of fine lines and accents.
If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
I would love to be an expert photographer as well, or rather, incorporate my photographic and traditional art skills together for a mash up of all my art. Maybe animated. Like cinegraphs and animated doodles.
What was your first favourite? (this account)
What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
I love traditional art the most, especially those that bend the concept of what is traditional. I'm not really into 'modern' art, loving the classical paintings you'd find at the National Museum. However, I love Sci-Fi and Fantasy pieces a lot.
Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
I'm terrible at picking a favorite. There are so many artists I love and admire their work, spanning every genre. My favorite artists I've known in person are Charles Flickinger and Cheryl Casteen. They used to work as a couple and were a huge influence on me. They aren't on deviantART though. Together, they would sculpt these amazing figures. Using glass eyes and real teeth, these works looked alive.
If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? (look at my front page for artists who are my friends)
How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
I met Reignson/silverbane in 2004 on BigFatKitty coloring book club founded by me and a friend before there were groups or something. We instantly connected and fell into dA loves. We met in person and have been together ever since. This year will be our 11th anniversary. We have an 8 year old son and I'd definitely say Reignson has been a huge impact on my life.
What are your preferred tools to create art?
My hands! Whatever I can get my hands on, I'll make into art. I suppose pens and pencils are my favorite. They are the most readily accessible. And I love to draw.
What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
I suppose if I had an ideal place, it would be somewhere in a wooded area, with big open windows to let in the natural light, maybe in the mountains. I love the mountains. Gesundheit was the most inspiring place I have ever lived in West Virginia. Or Christiana's house in Baltimore. She was an amazing artist who would hold these May Day art events on her property. They had a May Day pole and everything. Artists would exhibit their work all over her home and throughout the landscape. I don't have my own inspirational place for art, but those memories are in my heart.
What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
My favorite memory was in February 2010, when my bf bought me my first Premium Membership for Valentine's Day. That started me on my path of making deviantART journal skins. This one is still a WIP and is not available yet.
Now, it also has a referral system. By sharing this journal and promoting the service, then I would be added to their referral network. Then, they send 5% of the points donated by any users who visit their page because of my referral. It works like this, if you are on a donator's watch list or if the donator is in your group, you will receive a portion of the profits from their transactions. So, you refer them, they donate, it checks their watchlist and you get 5% of the donation. The points from this would be sent at the end of each week.
Guidelines - Referral Network
Post a new journal on your account or in your groups about dAhub and/or include the dAhub code in your signature then leave a comment on my profile page dAhub with the links to the journals. I will send you 5% of the points donated by any users who visit my page because of your referral
You can receive points for publicizing dAhub through any of the groups where you are an admin. To receive points for publicizing through a group, include a link to the new group journal in your comment
Remember, featuring dAhub directly on your profile or group page will boost the points you earn too!
Hey! :icondahub: will give you free :points: if you watch, fav or give llamas to the users in his donation widget!
You can also be featured if you donate some :points:
So go to :devdahub: now! :D
I am not currently accepting commissions. I'll be preparing for another year of homeschooling, though I had hoped to be reintegrating my son into public school, we don't feel he is quite ready for that yet. He is entering the 3rd grade. I would love to socialize with other homeschooling families. There are local ones here, but they mostly seem to be non-secular. Besides, we lack transportation to be able to do much with them. I do have Skype in the Classroom, so wouldn't be opposed to a Skype class buddy day with another kid his age (8). He isn't very pro at socializing and could use some interaction with other kids to work on his conversation skills. It wouldn't have to be about school related subjects, since the lesson would be about engaging in meaningful conversation. His are very one-sided where he goes on and on about video games you don't play. (I have no idea where the long-windedness comes from!) If anyone is interested, PM me.
I will also be making homeschool resources in my teacherspayteachers store. There is an upcoming sale that I cannot release the info about yet... (I'll update here when it is released) But all my things are always affordable. I believe digital products ought to be extremely cheap. There are no restocking the shelves, I can sell them over and over. Just costs me my initial time and work to create the product, once it is paid for, all additional copies sold = profit. I have very few sales there, but it has been picking up over the past year, so I plan to be making more. If you want to support me as I make these and my art, I have a Patreon page set up where I will post all my work. I've had a set back with my external hard drive dying, so all my work that I've had is currently in limbo. But I may be able to fix this soon, so hopefully, will be filling up my Patreon with many goodies. I plan to hold a giveaway once I reach $5/creation. I haven't decided the platform for it, perhaps I'll leave it as a vote from my Patrons. They will automatically be included, but if they are each supporting by $1, that means there would only be 5 entrants. But hey, 1 in 5 chance to win is rather nice! (my bf is my only Patron at the moment and he is excluded from the giveaway, so actually, 1 in 4)
Okay, I am rambling now, way sidetracked. Back to the point, if you want to earn extra points for the group, head over to dAhub and give out some llamas/devwatches/faves of your choosing.

This skin is a pointsraiser to help the CSS-Babes reach Super Group status once again. This was donated by ClearStyle to raise points. This can be purchased via this journal using the Premium Content Platform. The cost is only 100 (dA takes 20%, so 80 go to the Super Group purchase). I've included a zip file containing the txt files for the Header, Footer, CSS sections and a PDF installation instructions for the skin. Allow me to take you on a tour of this design.
Subheadings have been formattedSubheadings 1-6 have all been coded. They all coordinate, the size would be the standard descending styles. So, I might not demonstrate all of them in this journal.
Journal usageThe skin is pretty straightforward. Though I have made a minor edit to cancel the styling for emotes. Before you add your emote, use the embed tags:
<em></em>This removes the styling so the emotes are not super tiny. In the preview, it will show emote the correct size.
Featured : ClearStyle
He may be a newcomer on deviantART, having only been on dA for 3 months, but ClearStyle is making a splash in the CSS community. His name says it all, his skin designs are sleek and stylish, one look at his profile demonstrates that. Already, he has received the honor of a Daily Deviation for his Colors White Journal Skin ~ Premium, a full CSS package with 3 alternate color choices, mint, pink and sky.
All of the skins in his Gallery feature a clean aesthetic, perfect for featuring art or writing journals and articles alike.
I would recommend keeping an eye on him and adding him to your watch. He has been regularly posting free and premium skins in his gallery, there are always new CSS designs to see.
The Babes are halfway to the goal of Super Group. With Super, firstly, we will be redesigning the layout of the group, keeping with the white and hot pink theme you all have come to identify our group with. Second, we'll be reinstating the Dedicated Hunks (perhaps rename to Super Hunks) which will have equal group privileges as the Babes members, with the exception of being limited to the Hunk's folder for submissions, and the position will be open to more than one Hunk. Third, we will fix the journal listing to have properly pinned posts for the group rules, archives and CSS tips. And, finally, we will be hosting chat events, perhaps on a monthly basis. If we have excess and donated skins from the pointsraiser, we may host a giveaway or contest depending on what prizes are offered. Maybe have games or hunts, something fun!
To purchase this skin, look in the right hand sidebar of this page for the 'Purchase' option. Thank you for your support and thank you ClearStyle for helping the Babes!

Top Community Feature Requests and Our Responses
In May, we introduced the DeviantArt Timeline as a method of communicating with deviants and providing transparency about what’s planned for our collective future. During the site simplification process that followed, we received a number of comments from deviants asking why we were working on the features presented on the Timeline instead of other things. Many of the features brought up in these comments are ones that have been requested for years. We want to be more transparent about these suggested features, why some of them haven’t happened yet, and why some of them may never happen.
These requests are from past Site Updates, the Suggestions Forum, surveys, and individual requests we’ve received.

The Upcoming Thumbnail Grid
On DeviantArt, your deviations are paramount, and we want to present them in the best way possible, even in thumbnail form. Over the past few months, we've been working on a new thumbnail grid that maintains the integrity of your deviations, no matter their dimensions or content types. Our goal is to be better at displaying art than any other site on the Internet.
Problems We’re Solving
We can do better than the current thumbnail grid, which includes uneven or irregular gaps between deviations. These gaps don't have any visual rhythm, causing your eyes to jump all over the place. Some content types, including literature, journals, pixel art, and emoticons, don’t look ideal. Our new grid focuses on fixing these issues while modernizing the look and feel of DeviantArt.
Below are some concept designs that represent one avenue we’re exploring. (These are works-in-progress and not final. Also note that the category menu
Celebrating Deviousness - June 2015
In Recognition of Exemplary Membership and an Outstanding Spirit of helpfulness and mentoring within the DeviantArt community.
Hello! I’m Eve, mostly known as TheGalleryOfEve. I’m a self-taught artist born and raised in Argentina, currently living in sunny Florida, USA. I’ve always been inclined towards the Art world, my family has been a role model for me in many aspects, especially in the Art arena (my Grandpa was a Traditional painter, my Mom loves music, she plays the piano and sings, and my Grandma used to create some of the most beautiful handcrafts I’ve ever seen!) So when I discovered the wonders of Digital Art, back in 2007, I knew right there what I would be doing for the rest of my life.
As you can imagine, self-teaching techniques and concepts takes hours and hours of looking through all kinds of tutorials, that
Ask a Babe - CSS Tuts and ResourcesI have quite a few behind the scenes CSS articles stashed away in my Sta.sh, long forgotten about. They were originally going to be articles for CSS-DYK but now there were changes to how submissions were going and I have blog write access but not the fancy skin to make the article match the group. Rather than throwing in a monkey wrench, I'll just be posting those old articles as Sta.sh embeds here. Some are still good knowledge. Some are incomplete thoughts. Some have outdated links. Whatever. I'm sharing them now. Do what you will with this knowledge.
I have a lot of articles I've been putting out lately, and no real 'schedule' planned. I tend to do things as I feel like it and am somewhat erratic. I'm sorry for that, but inspiration cannot be tamed by timetables! I'll not commit to saying I'll stick to any specific schedule or give myself an exact deadline. Beca
Beginnings of Site Simplification
Beginnings of Site Simplification
It’s no secret that DeviantArt is a complicated site. Have you ever invited a friend to DeviantArt, only to have them ask a bunch of questions about how to get started? Or have you ever spoken with a fellow deviant about a feature you use daily, only to learn they didn't know that feature existed? It’s our aim to make a new deviant's first experience as inspiring and welcoming as those who have made this community their home. We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to make DeviantAr
Challenge - Week 3Theme Challenge: Rural Nights
Suggested by Quiless
A few weeks ago I camped out in our backyard with marshmallows roasting over the crackling fire pit. The moon was full and the air had a chill to it. I live in a pretty rural area, where, on a clear night, all you can see are stars. Have you ever slept under the night's sky? Or do you day dream about getting away from the city lights and enjoying the dark and calm, no hum of electricity... Let the night inspire you to create a journal skin theme.
Create a journal skin, gallery or custom box bg/widget or other journal/profile resource using the theme for this week. Add the hashtag #CSSChallenge to your deviation or description. (no longer using #cssbabeschallenge exclusively, you can use either tag, I'll check for both)
All skins tagged will be fe

How do you make previews of your skins?
The best way to show off your skin is with a thumb that displays your journal content fairly accurately. Design/background images and other images that aren't a capture would not give the user a good idea of what the skin actually looks like in use.
To make a nice preview of your journal skin, you don't need anything special to take your screenshot. In Windows, you can u

Call to CodeThe State of the Community Address
As many of you are probably aware, there has been a long period of inactivity or a reduction of activity across the entire CSS community. Many have moved on to other things, spend less time on dA or just are no longer interested in CSS. But I would like to change that. I have been discussing the situation in the backrooms of several groups with various fellow CSS mods that there has been a lack of enthusiasm in the CSS community. Many have tried revitalizing it throughout the years, but participation has lolled. Contests getting one or just a few entries, despite offering interesting prizes... Submissions being declined for expiring... As Quiless has put it, dA CSS has fallen asleep. Well, he and I want to brainstorm ideas to jump start the entire CSS community again. So I am asking here for those reading this to bring forth ideas to pique interests.
This Week in CSSLet's have a look at what the community has brought use the latest 7 days. Great skins to pick from, wonderful work, everyone. A few things before I get started, the only prerequisites for this feature are three things, 1. from the thumbnail I can see it is a journal skin/gallery/custom box/etc, 2. the text is legible, and 3. copyrights are respected (Google does not give you permissions). I am featuring all levels of skins. This is a showcase of our community and what we are doing right now.

Feature: GroupsSince CSS was introduced to dA journals and later to galleries as well, there have been plenty of clubs about CSS right away. Later we got groups and those accounts kept going on with their passion for collecting skins and resources.
Today we are going to present you some of the most popular and well known groups dedicated to dA CSS.
eCSSited is a resources only group. The focus is being a group that provide helpful information, tutorials, code snippets and other useful bits to create CSS around dA.
No finished skins or designs will be accepted here - except for contest or project entries.
This group is sharing knowledge, tricks and tips about CSS on a regular basis. No matter if you are a beginner or already an advanced coder, there is always something new to learn. Everyone can contribute and share their CSS wisdom with other deviants here.
Submission of "Did you know?" articles only.
With this group you have another helpful resource
Recent CSS Deviants:Either new to coding or new to CSS groups. Check out some of their recent works and welcome them to the community.

I've launched my Patreon page today. I have been working hard the last month getting Patron rewards ready and tweaking my profile to make it not too wordy... As I tend to get. Blah blah blah I'm super excited though I don't think I have any followers yet. I guess, before I say any more, I should get to some explaining.
What is Patreon?Okay, first off, it is not a Kickstarter or fundraising crowdsourcing one run project. It is an ongoing, subscription like service to support artists and creators. Creators can be art, video, music... Really anything. This site is bringing back the Renaissance Era idea of patronage of the arts. People used to support an artist to help them pay their bills and fund their artistic endeavors so they could just do what they loved, make art. Patrons may have had more of a role than just financial backing, but instead commissioning artists or being their muse. So the goal of Patreon is to connect artists with art lovers who want to help the artist create their art.
How does it work? There are two ways creators post their subscriptions. Either monthly (for artists who create large number of works each month) or per creation. The patron sets the amount and the cap. Even if they are paying per creation, they can set the limit as to how many creations they contribute to in a month. So if an artist posts more than the anticipated amount of works, then the Patron does not go out of budget. You can actually set the max to be one creation, so if you wanted to contribute $1/month, you could.
The creator sets rewards at different levels of patronage. This will vary per artist. I have included rewards specific to my deviantART watchers, such as this journal skin design. I'll be making resources, like textures, patterns, stock imagery, PSD files, etc. I hope to hold giveaways, I have one readied once I meet my first goal of $5/creation. Check out all my rewards and goals on my profile.
20% to ATC Giveaway
So, this journal skin is one of my Patron rewards, along with matching gallery, custom box, desktop wallpapers and the high res file of the original artwork for digital prints. The gallery and custom box are free for all. The Wallpaper and digital print is for all my Patrons. The journal skin is for the $10+ reward. I have already added rewards for several of my tiers to my activity.
I expect to be releasing one creation per week. Generally, 4-5 a month. The sort of creations I will be making will range, from paintings to resources, artist trading cards, etc. Some of the things I release will be free for the public, others may be available to Patrons only. I may even offer new releases to my Patrons before it hits my Etsy store.
I'm asking my watchers to please help me get followers by sharing my profile in your social networks. I'm trying to bring all my online endeavors into one place. Besides my art (Etsy), I also make resources for teaching homeschool (TeachersPayTeachers), and sell merchandise (RedBubble), and fabric designs (Spoonflower). None of them are really connected to each other, but Miscellaneous Juxtapositions is about all the arty things I do. My Patreon site will include all of it (as well as deviantART). My only income right now is through my art. And I make small change. Today, I spent my profits for TpT ($1.76) on an ad campaign on Facebook to announce my launch. It garnered 1,700+ reach, but only one click. I don't have the means to spread my art further. Sharing the profile page or one of the public activities will help me get more actual clicks. And maybe if they like what I'm doing, they'll help me out.
Support me Making Art
I hope my fellow artists will check out the Patreon website for themselves. Join the group on dA Patreon as well. I plan to support other artists as I gain support. Together, we can form a network of artists that all help each other making our arts.

Reignson / silverbane did the paint job. He also blackened the boots and belt and made the holster for the potions. The potions are a mix of corn syrup and pigments and fine glitter.
For the Wizard's Hat, I watched this video tutorial by CraftGyver on YouTube. I didn't exactly 'follow' the steps, I went by the directions on the fusing interface, which was way more difficult than the video. My interface was double sided and medium firmness. I think I have enough material left over and another type of interfacing, much less firm and not fusing. So, I might make myself a wizard hat as well. I made an additional wand, but it's not finished yet.
The flash makes the fabric look bluer than it is. It is closer to the color of the link fonts on this skin, a teal blue. It's a satin fabric from JoAnn Fabric's costume section. The lining is some black fleece I've had forever. I've found if it is ironed, it is like a faux suede and so soft. The jerkin is made from the scrap material bin at JoAnn's, it is a padded quilted fabric, perfect for padded armor! The trim is gold metallic ribbon, which one roll was just barely enough. Eep. Good thing I didn't try to trim everything.
Most of the supplies, I already had, so I only spent just under $30 at JoAnn's. I had coupons, plus a teacher discount. Here's a full list of all supplies. Total time from designing, cutting out patterns to completion was about 5 days over a 2 week period. Nearly killed my poor sewing machine on the potion holder (it has cereal box for the backing).
- 3 yards of matching satin fabric
- 1 yard contrasting satin fabric
- <1 yard of padded quilt diamond fabric
- 3 yard roll of ribbon/trim
- double sided fusing interface medium
- 2 glass bottles with cork

- fine glitter
- hot glue
- seed beads
- spray paint
- acrylic paint

I've always lived far away from them, but for a short time. I lived in Texas for about half a year where I got to know the boys and Janie. They had meager living conditions, but they got by. My Uncle worked as a school bus driver back then. He's also an authorized Harley repairman and has a beard that makes him look like a ZZ Top member. I remember Janie as being rather cheerful and friendly. Her and Maurice and the boys have gone through a lot. But they always managed.
She's the love of my Uncle's life. I'm going to go through my art inventory and see if there is anything I can sell to donate money to them. I don't have any income, so cannot help them directly. If anyone direct me to somewhere they can possibly get help, I'd appreciate it.

I used to be gibberstoadzdoll, I named myself after my initials GIB and I was engaged to Toadling (<s>he no longer uses this site, so I guess it is safe to 'mention' him, lols</s>). I retained the name for a long time, not wanting to lose all my watchers and those I was watching. But finally, I could not stand seeing his name up there any more.
The aforementioned Dream-Dangerous introduced me to silverbane because his profile pic looked like a young Keifer Sutherland, and he is a good artist. We were all in a coloring book club called BigFatKitty . He and I started talking and fell into dA loves. Nine years later and we have a seven year old son together. dA has been a part of my life for close to a decade.
I became involved with the dA community in 2010 when Silverbane bought me my first Premium Membership for Valentine's Day. I began to code journal skins and joined a ton of skinning groups and dArelated groups. Before that, I would casually post my art and comment and fave things a bit and that was my extent of dA usage. Journal skinning has given me something to contribute to the greater community and I love it. I've learned a lot here from my peers and in turn have taught others what I know. I have made a lot of friends on dA that I consider to be real friends. It would be awesome to meet them in person someday. I would love to go to a dAmeet some time, but I don't really live near anything.
So, that is my dA story. I came here with friends, lost those friends, found true love and made new friends. As my life evolved, so did dA, side by side. I love you, dA!

I'm also considering getting an Android compatible tablet for homeschool time. I've found a very reasonably priced one with some great reviews. So app suggestions and tablet friendly sites for kids are requested. ;D I cruised around the Google App Store adding things to my wishlist.
I'll still check on here daily. Even if I am not seemingly active. I am still here, just lurking! If you miss me, feel free to note or comment! And I'll still be active on Facebook, though trying to wean off of it a bit. I am an internet addict. I must look at cat videos every day. And auto-corrects. And today it was the Photoshop Requests. I've seen some of them before but they make me lol so hard.
Love you guys! Gillian

Anyways the point of this journal
I came here to post about a fundraiser I've started for my homeschool supplies and curricula. I'm trying to raise money to buy what I need by selling my artworks on Etsy, Miscellaneous Juxtapositions, at a discounted rate, 25% off with the code "Back2School". Also, I am accepting donations, to which I will send out Artist Trading Cards and art print bookmarks to certain contribution levels as a thank you. I need to raise close to $300 with all the shipping and taxes guessed in. Because undoubtedly, I'll need multiple shipments. We've already bought our first set of supplemental workbooks, the Star Wars Brainquest books. And they're awesome. You compare less than/greater than storm troopers and such. It's pretty cool. Like homeschool should be!
I have detailed everything in my blog Chasing Grades as well as a Supply List with things I need and want. The wish list has a lot more that I don't really need per se. I want Star Wars wall clings to decorate the school wall. Maybe inspire some pew pew learning. ;D Those are bottom priority. Though incentive stickers are important. I'm thinking of making some vinyl inspirational quotes from Star Wars to put on the wall. We have this big end roll of black vinyl and it should stick and peel off the wall okay. And it gives me an excuse to use my cutting mat. If it works well, I'll take pictures of the awesome ;D

deviantART Does Not Sell Art to Third PartiesAlright... I'm kinda seeing a certain issue rise up and whatnot, so I suppose it's best that I give you my two cents on this topic.
Why This Came Up
I'm guessing sometime today, a comment on rismo's work My Neighbor Jake (which earned a Daily Deviation a while ago). The comment leads to this Hot Topic website, where they advertise a product containing the artist's work.
Of course, I wouldn't have noticed this myself. It got diffused via a post on Tumblr, a blogging website. You can find the post here. Basically, the post claims that deviantART was responsible for this, stating that rismo's a
PE: Contest Rules and EtiquetteOkay... we all know that to be seen on deviantART, one has to have some kind of "artistic marketing" of sorts. However, you can't just walk up to a person's profile and advertise yourself in the comments. That's rude and it's against the website's rules.
Note: The website actually does offer advertising on people's profile pages. You buy them and they'll appear to whomever doesn't have Premium Membership with Ad toggled off.
So how do you go about advertising yourself? There are many popular ways to be seen on deviantART without a direct "ad". Some include activity in the forums, the dAmn (chats), and joining groups. Another way people get attention is through a contest. These are effective and really do get quite the attention.
Contests have become more and more popular to a degree that they actually become viewed 1,000 times. Because they are so frequently visited, it can potentially become featured in the bottom of deviantART page (where the Daily Deviations happe

This Agreement is not a legal document nor is it written in second-person perspective. However, you should still carefully read and agree with it before messing around with me. x3
First and foremost! I draw for my own pleasure. I very rarely draw because someone told me so. If I make a gift for someone, it's because they were special to me in some way and I felt like paying back with some art. If I start drawing when people tell me so, I won't enjoy drawing anymore. It'll become more of a job. I want drawing to be my hobby and distraction.
I am a Community Volunteer of My Page. How does that make any sense? Well... I have a crowd of watchers looking at my every post. Naturally, in exch
goldnretriever is an artist who enjoys drawing MLP characters and OCs as well as designing journal skins. He has done several commissions and may be available for more. He is the founder of Bronyland and has contributed to projecteducate articles.
Thank you for your quiet patience as I took forever in doing this. You have been kind and friendly, and I've saved your last conversation with me in my inbox all this time as a daily reminder of my procrastination. I feel badly for having let it go so long.
Previous Feature - Celvas
Featuring CelvasA hearty congratulations goes out to the talented Celvas for her winning CSS journal skin in miontre's contest.
The idea of the contest was to find an artwork that inspired you to create a journal skin. There were two categories, coded and design only. Celvas won for her coded skin which really embodied the inspiration piece. That Girl With the Flower Check the live view of that skin to see it in action, it is an incredible skin.

Rest in Peace H. R. Giger. As many of you may already be aware, the legendary artist, H. R. Giger has died at the age of 74 due to a fall in his museum in Switzerland. I am saddened to hear of his passing, I always found his work to be an inspiration with its dark and erotically bizarre beauty. One of my first exposures to Giger (outside of Aliens, which I didn't watch as a kid) was actually in a school textbook, which I was shocked to realize that the image depicted an act of felatio hidden with the ultra tech organic forms. I had a strong interest in airbrush then and loved how the curves and shapes were shaded in his works. The organic shapes juxtaposed with machinery. The fuel for imagination.
I'd like to say farewell to Mr. Giger. As an artist, I would feel it would be paramount cummulation of a lifetime of achievements to live to an old age as he and meet my death in my own museum. I cannot imagine being as great an artist as he was. His work, forever immortalized in film, museums, and on the skin of generations of admirers. Goodbye H. R. Giger.
