Ink and watercolor raven/grackle for a journal commission. I originally wanted to do one of those ink drop style ones I saw gifs of floating around on Tumblr. Will dig up link later. Unfortunately, our ink bottle was dried up years ago, and it looks like my bf added water to the waterproof ink to revive it. He says the bottle is probably 10+ years old. Amazed it still had water in it. So, instead, I did with ink pens, sharpie fine point and my fave brush pen (though that shows up every wiggle from me breathing). Then I slapped on water colors. I made the speckled effect by mixing up some paint into an old hand sanitizer tube and spritzing it over. This is on card stock, so the paper warped very badly. Ironing did not fix that entirely. I normally do these sort of mix medias on bristol because I prefer the smooth texture to water color surface. And the iron usually fixes all that...

I will be keeping the original for myself.  I rather like it. Prints may be available upon request.

Update

 This original painting will be offered at a spaghetti dinner in Texas with the benefit proceeds going to my uncle Maurice for his wife, Janie's battle with ovarian cancer.  I cannot be there in person nor send any money, I just hope this will help.  Much love!

Maria's Page of HopeI've just learned that my Uncle's wife, Maria "Janie", has stage 4 ovarian cancer.  He has to take off work to help her and they are quickly going into debt as bills and living expenses are weighed down by medical and transportation costs.  My Uncle, Maurice, has started a fundraiser on GiveForward with a goal of $5,000.  If anyone can contribute or share this, please do.  They have two grown sons, Sammy and Chris.
