This is a custom journal design for $chix0r, which features my art and layout. I created the resources for this, which some, I shall be offering as stock. The background texture was made using bleach on black card stock, plus watercolor paints.

The artwork was created specifically for use for this design. It will not be offered as stock, though prints may become available. Please inquire if interested.

:iconchix0r:'s journal design includes blockquote, li, thumb styling, Link Menu, custom art/header/footer/floating imgs/ separator, alternate font formatting, feature box, and subheader styling.

The thumbs feature is a horizontal scrollbox with all the thumbs displayed on one row. If the screen is wide or there are few thumbs, then the scroll will not display. If the screen is narrow or there are several thumbs, then it will scroll.

For group/stamps/emote thumbs, the < em> code (sans space) removes the thumb styling.

Yeah, the glow is personal taste. I'm addicted to glow. Think it gives a burnished look... I tend to make things for pretty rather than functionality, but I'm really trying! :XD: I'm just happy she loves it! When I designed it, I studied her favorites for two days before drawing anything so I knew what she liked. It was fun to design something for someone that way, which she gave me artistic freedom. Way cooler than any other commission where I'm asked to draw a specific thing a specific way... I think this will change how I go about accepting commissions. I want artistic freedom, because that's how I work the best.

I bet you got half a heart-attack when you got that note about the commission :giggle:
Looks good and has your typical style, which is great and unique! :la:


The only thing that personal bugs me a bit is that the text-shadow makes the text a bit blurry. But no idea if that was done intentionally or maybe requested.

Yes I did! I could barely contain my giddiness. I told my boyfriend that CHIX0R wanted to commission me for a journal, and he's all, who? He doesn't pay any attention to community stuffs at all, so he has nno clue who any of the mods are or read the DA news/hot topics, etc.

Yeah, the blurry was mentioned by others. I gave her a fix to tone it down or remove it. I get over zealous with the blur, or I just like it a lot. :XD:

I'm trying to really add my style to any skins I do, especially a commission because one of the reasons to choose your coder/designer would be for their personal talents and unique offerings, right? I like seeing all the diverse style of coders in our circle. I think I might try a minimalist one, without flourishes and swirlies or anything, and see if I can manage something more neutral. lols. My stuff definitely looks very feminine!

It can be tricky with the blur, but can also add very nice effect!


Absolutely right and it's great to be able to recognize the art by others because of that :la:
There is nothing wrong with feminine stuff.
