Artist's Comments

This piece was inspired by that photo of an apple with a bunch of pins shaped like a heart that either had a DD or was on popular frontpage.... If I find again, I'll link it (found it!-----> ) Forbidden Fruit by =KatherineDavis.


Anyways, the apple represents my son (who is currently 17 months and "Ah-Pah" is his latest and favorite word and he requests apples all the time.), my love. The box represents holding him treasured and close to my heart.

I put this in still life as I used an apple as reference, and my hands, though no real box.... So the composition isn't still life.

Thanks for comment, fave and add! Glad you like it. I spent a lot of time on it. Was mainly trying to see how well the flow of ink was on my new ball point pens. They were kinda scratchy actually. So far, this was my only attempt to draw with them.

It looks good :D I get so paranoid using pens.. or fineliners as if you make a mistake you can't erase.. you have to draw over it

Hence the scribbly technique. All mistakes are hidden. I lightly sketched out the basic shapes, but when I was finished, the hand on the bottom was too small in comparison to the hand at the top. By the time I noticed, it was too late to correct.

When i do life drawing i use charcoal, ( i dunno why i don't use pencil..) i make lots of mistakes and the teacher is like don't worry about just draw over it, and sometimes its a good thing doing that.
