11 things I love about DeviantART

Eleven is my favorite number, my lucky number.  I was born under the 11th day of the 12th month.  My sisters both born on their own elevens as well, January and July.  My Mother was October.  In the family tradition, my son was born under the number eleven, but his is the month of November on the 17th day.  The day of my anniversary to the man I met on DeviantART and fell in love with.

Eleven for the Epicness.  DA is in a word, EPIC.  Epic to me, is more than just a long-winded story or large proportions.  It is the amazingness that cannot be described by bigger words, only one little word can possibly touch it.

Ten is the fact that DA is a vast social network with an immense database of storage for EVERYTHING.  JPG, PNG, GIF, PDF, ZIP, RAR, FLA.....  I can find PS Actions, before I even knew what an action was, brushes and patterns, textures, tonnes of art resources....  Anything I could possibly think to look for, I can find on DA!

Nine would be for the fact that all I do all day, every day is DA.  I tell my friends about DA, I talk about DA to my bf, to my kid...  I quit my Facebook games addiction, but I'll like things on DA and share them on Facebook.

Eight for the years I've spent with DA.  I've grown immensely as an artist.  I joined DA around mid-late 2003 by suggestion of a friend.  I was immediately engulfed by the site and enraptured with it like a shiny new toy.  I'd post my art for feedback, I'd find tutorials for any medium I felt like trying my hand at, I'd watch skilled artists and learn from them.  I still am enamored.

Seven is La.  I cannot get enough La.  Seriously.

Six is the world.  DeviantART is everyone, everywhere experiencing life in true color.  Through DA I can travel to China, to England, Italy, France...  Every nation, every race, gender and walk of artist is HERE enriching me with their culture.

Five is because DeviantART loves me.  Despite being such a big place, I feel recognized by my artistic peers and community.  Through features, faves, and comments.  Even llamas!

Four is my obsession(s).  Many years I've been on DeviantART, and always swore I'd pay back the site by buying a premium membership for a year.  It being my belief that we should all support the site that supports us all so much.  And then it turned me to my current obsession.  CSS.  I had done a bit of fiddling around on blogs and personal websites (which all amounted to nothing), but then my world opened up to my journal skin.  So I read a tutorial (link in post).  I tried it out.  Then made another...  Now it is the most popular thing I have ever created and now I'm teaching it to fellow Deviants so they can enjoy the pleasure of making their followers doubly pleased with their talents.

Three is the art and the talent.  Every possible aspect of art is represented here, from skilled masters to young doodlers, child prodigies and unknown greats.  I am awash in a sea, overstimulated yet able to find my own artistic niche.

Two would be the people of DeviantART.  That despite being such a vast community of every genre and subculture, there are myriad circles of people whom I count as genuine friends.

One is my son.  Without DeviantART, I would never have had him.  I never would have met his father who lived several states away.  I would never have my family that I love so much.

There are more than eleven reasons why I love DeviantART, I dream about DA.  Enough said.
